Chester Alvin Babb, 66, of Wheeler died Sunday morning as a result of a fall. Babb had apparently climbed to the roof of his house to repair a vent pipe. It is not known is [sic] Babb fell from the ladder or slipped while on the roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Charley Whiteley, Justice of the Peace.

Services were held Tuesday, January 24, at 2 p.m. i First Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Johnson of Plainview, and Rev. Ricky Pfeil, pastor of Wheeler Christian Center, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Babb was born in Arkansas and had lived in Wheeler County since 1937. He was a retired farmer and president of the board of Wheeler Christian Center.

Survivors include a son, James of Wheeler; two daughters, Mrs. Rita Ward of Dennison and Mrs. Melva Seitz of Crowell; three brothers, Walter of Clarksville, C.L. of Bogata and Boyce of Canton; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Crafton of Amarillo, Mrs. Annie Dalby of DeKalb and Mrs. Alma Presley of Clarksville; and six grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Dilbeck, J.D. Henderson, Mark Meek, Everett Ratcliff, Frank Young, and R.L. Zybach.

WHEELER - Nora Marie Babb, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Grace Fellowship Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Jim Loper, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Borger, and the Rev. Alberta Helton officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Babb moved to Wheeler in 1937. She married Chester Alvin Babb in Clarksville in 1928.

Survivors include a son, James Babb of Wheeler; two daughters, Rita Ward of Denison and Melba Seitz of Mobeetie; a brother, Clifton Tucker of Bogota; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Wheeler Cemetery Association or Grace Fellowship Church.
