WHEELER - Bobby Earl Blackburn, 65, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cornerstone Church with the Rev. Jerry Thomas, pastor of North Beacon Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, and the Rev. Erron Mercer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackburn was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Conehatta, Miss., to Patrick and Thelma Loper Blackburn. He married Rebecca Scales on Jan. 17, 1975, in Portales, N.M. They moved to Briscoe in 1986, where he was in maintenance for the Briscoe schools until he retired in 2001. After he retired, they moved to Wheeler. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving from 1960 to 1963.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Brad Blackburn of Morton, Miss., Mark Blackburn and wife, Helen, of Keyes, Okla., Gary Blackburn and wife, Denise, of Spearman and Bobby Blackburn and wife, Heather, of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Blackburn of Wheeler and Tonya Jones and husband, Randy, of Amarillo; his mother, Thelma Holiday of Newton, Miss.; four brothers, Curtis Blackburn and wife, Susan, and Jimmy Blackburn and wife, Carol, all of Newton, Harold Blackburn and wife, Janie, of Jackson, Miss., and Larry Blackburn and wife, Jo, of Decatur, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; a special niece and two nephews, Will Scales and wife, Melissa, of Kelton and Lee Scales of Amarillo; and several other nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
