Funeral services for Mrs. S.A. (Ollie Mae) Blackburn, 44, prominent Kelton community citizen, were conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Wheeler Methodist Church. Rev. Gene B. Louder, pastor of the Kelton Methodist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Bob Ely, pastor of the Wheeler Methodist Church, and Rev. R.K. Whitaker, former pastor of the Twitty Baptist Church and now from Oklahoma.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of the Clay Funeral Home of Shamrock.

Mrs. Blackburn was born May 4, 1918, in Jacksboro, Texas. She died about 12:05 a.m. last Friday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. She had been in the hospital both in Amarillo and Shamrock for a little over a month.

Mrs. Blackburn came to Wheeler County with her parents in 1929. On July 3, 1954, she and S.A. (Blackie) Blackburn were married in Tucumcare [sic], N.M. They were living in Amarillo at the time.

For the past three years she lived at Kelton, where she and her husband operate a grocery store and the Kelton post office.

She was a member of the Kelton Methodist Church and the Shamrock Rebecca Lodge, serving at one time as conductress of that organization. She was also an active member of the Kelton Home Demonstration Club and an officer on the Wheeler County Home Demonstration Council.

She is survived by her husband; six sons, James Wood of Bellflower, Calif., Finnis [sic] Wood of Southgate, Calif., Larry Wood, Kurt and Mark Blackburn of the home and Victor Lee Blackburn of Lubbock; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ogle of Wheeler; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Stimpson of Fairbanks, Alaska, Mrs. Millie Foreman of Anahime [sic], Calif., Mrs. Betty Overcast of LaPlanta, Calif., Mrs. Martha Whitley of Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Jim and Robert Ogle of Amarillo, Johnny Ogle of Arlington and four grandchildren.

Active pall bearers were Leonard Mills, Wayne Bass, Buddy Errington and T.J. Austin, Kelton; Ross Errington of Amarillo; J.W. Hughes of Shamrock. Honorary pallbearers were Edgar Blocker, Charlie Brittain, Bobby Calcote of Kelton; Bill Topper of Wheeler; Ralph Beagle of Stinnett; and Sherman Cottrell of Borger.
