George Walker (Butch) Webb, III
Cedar Creek Lake, TX

Butch lost his life to cancer on Sunday, September 7, 2014 after a courageous and lengthy battle. As he did in everything, Butch met this challenge head on and fought with all he could give.

Butch was born March 6, 1959 in Dallas, Texas to George Walker Webb Jr. and Mamie Foster Webb. He was raised in Dallas and later attended high school in Rising Star where he was a football star who was featured regularly on the cover of the Rising Star Paper.

He was an integral part of his parent's home building company, finding success in Dallas, Seagoville, and Midland, Texas and in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After his parents' retirement, Butch owned and operated a home building company, as well as a Pest Control company, and later a Heating and Air Conditioner business.

An avid hunter and fisherman his entire life, he had a lot of good times on the water with his fishing buddies and enjoyed hunting whitetail, elk, quail and dove. As a tournament fisherman Butch won several great prizes including a Jeep, boat and trailer. He had numerous trophy deer and fish displayed in his home.

Several people loved, supported, and helped take care of Butch during his illness. Our family sends a special thank you to cousins Mike and Darcy Holloway, his longtime friend and assistant Carmen Zamora, his best friend John Roe, his childhood friend Tricia Moon, friends Tracy and Carrie Poe, neighbor Mark Drake, and Dr. OO and his wonderful staff.

Butch is survived by parents George and Mamie Webb, sister Tammy Worley and husband Rick, sister Teri McQueen and husband Carl, all of Abilene. He dearly loved his nephews Jesse Worley, Cole Worley and Jeff Henson, and his niece Kimber Womack, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was especially proud of his grandniece Raylee Grace Henson and though he had not yet met him Butch already loved his new Grandnephew Hudson Cole Henson.

Butch was preceded in death by grandparents George and Detta Webb of Rising Star and grandparents A.B. and Edna Foster of Cross Plains, and his nephew Cole Worley of Abilene.

Butch spent his last years living on Cedar Creek Lake in a rustic home which he built almost entirely by himself. He really enjoyed his life of near daily crappie fishing, as well as trips to the coast for big Redfish with his friends. Numerous hunting trips to the family hunting lease in Bangs filled his falls and winters. Everyone around the campfire will miss his humorous storytelling.

Butch was a Baptist and was saved as a child at the First Baptist Church in Dallas. He recommitted his life to Christ on February 19, 2006 at A Sinners Hope Baptist Church near his home at Cedar Creek Lake.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2pm, at the Atwell Cemetery in Atwell, near Cross Plains.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to your favorite organizations in honor of Butch Webb.
