Mrs. J.R. Carver, long-time Wheeler County resident, and former resident of Wheeler, passed away Sunday in the Shamrock General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church at Shamrock. Rev. James Q. Todd, pastor, and Rev. Taft Hollaway, former Wheeler pastor, of Canadian, officiated. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery, under direction of Clay Funeral Home of Shamrock.

Mrs. Carver was 72 years old. A native of Morgansville, Ala., she had been a resident of Wheeler County since 1907. She was the widow of J.R. Carver, who died in January of 1949.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Brazil of Las Cruces, N.M., Mrs. Pearl Stevens of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Jewel Montgomery of Odessa; three sons, Millard Elmore Carver of the L-7 Ranch at Crosbyton, Vernon L. Carver of Odessa, and Reverend E. Douglas Carver of Pampa; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Cook, Beaumont, Mrs. Estell Rippy of Oklahoma City, Miss Joe Roden of Oklahoma City; a brother, Elmore Roden of Shamrock; two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Carver's nephews served as pall bearers. Those serving were Herman Beaty, Harold Loyd Beaty, Andrew Carver, Floyd Carver, Forrest Carver, Barney Burgess, Maurice Burgess and Watson Burgess.
