Rosary for Elizabeth Kitten, 98, of Slaton will be 7 p.m. today in Englunds Chapel. Resurrection Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 in Slaton's St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Curtis Halfmann and Deacon Darris Linder officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Elizabeth died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010. She was born Aug. 7, 1912 in High Hill, Texas. She moved with her family to Slaton in 1920. Elizabeth attended St. Joseph Parochial School. On June 29, 1937, Nestor Kitten married Elizabeth Bednarz. They were a farming family and retired in 1977. Nestor preceded her in death on Sep. 23, 1997. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alex Bednarz, Paul Meurer, Lloyd Meurer and Allen Meurer; and sisters, Hildegarde Kitten, Helen Bednarz, Betty Hlavaty and Natalia Miller.

Her survivors include her daughter, Charlene Scott of Greenville; sons, Rodney of Harlingen, Jerry of Slaton, Clifford of Houston, Clyde of Post and Edward of Lubbock; along with 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
