Salathiel Deming (S.D.) Conwell, 86, passed away in Highland General hospital Thursday, January 19, 1967.
Mr. Conwell had been in ill health for several years, but was seriously ill for only three weeks preceding his death.
S.D. Conwell was born to George Jefferson and Mary J. Conwell in Tennessee on June 14, 1880. He was married to Lillie May Winkler on Sept. 11, 1899 at Gainsville, Texas.
Mr. Conwell was a retired real estate agent and a resident of Wheeler County for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Lillie of Wheeler; two sons: Oscar Conwell of Truth or Consquences [sic], N.M. and Buford Conwell of Ft. Worth; one daughter: Mrs. Virginia Miller of Borger; two brothers: Lee Conwell of Houston and Oscar Conwell of Manchester, Tenn.; grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Services were held at the Wheeler Church of Christ on Saturday, January 21, 1967 with Jim Kelly, pastor and Rev. Dale Cain officiating.
Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright-Denson Funeral Home.
Pall Bearers were: Harold Kenneth, Bill Owens, Fat Moore, Tommy Hyatt, Harold Callan, Owen Jones, Fat Jones and Harrison Hall.
