Funeral Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, August 25, 1964 at 2:00 for Jabez F. Cook, 56 year resident of Wheeler Community.
Mr. Cook was born at Atlanta, Georgia, December, 1873 and moved to Wheeler Community from Altus, Oklahoma. After a lengthy illness, Jabez Cook passed away at his home in Wheeler on August 23, 1964 at 3:48 p.m. at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 3 days. During his active life, he was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. On August 5, 1900 he was married to Dora Lambert at Waxahachie, Texas.
Rev. Douglas Carver of Pampa and Rev. Frank Ross, pastor, officiated at the services.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Dora Cook of the home; ten children, J.F. Cook, Jr. of Silver City, New Mexico, John B. Cook, of Canyon, Mrs. J.E. Byars of Pampa, Mrs. W.A. Finsterwald of Wheeler, Mrs. J.R. Henderson of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Bruce Gressett of Canyon, Mrs. Clarence Wilson of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Cecil Murrell of Canyon, Mrs. Bill Badgley of Lynn Haven, Florida, and Mrs. David Cummings of Borger; 1 sister, Mrs. Eunice Butcher of Henderson, California; 32 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren.
Pall Bearers were Jack Finsterwald, Jim Henderson, Don Byars, Dale Richerdson, Floyd Murrell, Johnnie Gressett, Johnnie Cook and John C. Vise.
Honorary Bearers included Thurman Horn, Stanley Schaffer, Estes Wilsford, Cecil Blevins, Bob Stiles, Ocie Ford, Barney Burgess, Farmer Hefley, Wesley Thompson, and Shelby Pettit.
Interment was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral home.
