Codie F. Cowden, 81, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 29th.

Services were held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 3, in Schooler-Gordon Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bill Owen, associate pastor at Temple Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at 3:00 P.M. in the Wheeler Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Parker first Baptist Church, officiated.

Mr. Cowden had lived in Amarillo for 34 years. He was born in Indian Territory, Okla. He married Carrie Mae Cowden Dec. 1965. He was a road worker for the Texas Dept. of Highways and Transportation. He retired after 25 years. He was a member of The Baptist Church.

Survivors include 3 daughters Violet Guyette of Amarillo, Dixie McElreath of Amarillo, Hazel Peters of Vulcan, Michigan. Four sons James H. Stone, Cody F. Cowden, and Steve Ray Cowden all of Amarillo and James Floyd Cowden of Buhl, Idaho, 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
