John Thomas Chittum, 75, of Baird died Saturday, November 17, 2018 in an Abilene hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Rev. Paul Matta officiating. Burial will follow in the Belle Plain Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

John was born October 1, 1943 in Hawley to John and Pauline (Copeland) Chittum. He attended school at Wylie and Eula. He married Wanda Bales in Clyde on June 30, 1963 and they later moved to Clyde from Eula. He worked for General Dynamics for 30 years and had previously worked for Rockwell - Lockheed. He was a member of the Clyde Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Chittum of Baird; three sons, Johnny Chittum of Baird, James Chittum of Palo Pinto and Justin Chittum and wife Karma of Abilene; three brothers, Bob Chittum and wife Jayne of Baird, Fred Chittum of Sweetwater and Dennis Chittum and wife Anne of Burleson; three sisters, Stella Underwood of Midland, Gracie Jackson of Kingswood and Sandra Parrult of Ada, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Amber Torres and T.J. Chittum.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill Chittum.
