WHEELER - William Wayne Edwards, 80, died Sunday, March 4, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Stiles, pastor of Allison Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Edwards was born April 7, 1926, in Wheeler County to John Gwyn and Eunice Helton Edwards. He has lived in Wheeler Co. all his life. He attended school in Briscoe. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and The American Legion. He had served in the US Army in heavy artillery during WW II.

Mr. Edwards managed the Wheeler Lumber Co. for 60 years.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Monnie Edwards.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Edwards; a son, Marty Edwards of Burkburnett; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, David Edwards of Rising Sun, Mass., and Cecil Edwards of Bowie; and a sister, Marie Gergeni of Amarillo.

The family suggest memorials be to the American Heart Association, 2404 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106 or a favorite charity.
