Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Mellisa [sic] Evans were held at the First Baptist Church in Wheeler July 30, 1961 at 3:00 with Rev. Frank Ross officiating.
She was born March 5, 1878 in Alabama and passed away at her home in Wheeler, Texas July 28. She was 83 years, 4 months and 23 days old.
She was married to John W. Horn on March 3, 1895 in the state of Arkansas.
She was a member of the Baptist Church. She had resided in Wheeler County for 50 years and in the city of Wheeler for 30 years.
Her husband preceded her in death, having passed away April 14, 1909.
A few years after the death of Mr. Horn, she was married to J. G. Evans also deceased.
Survivors include her children, Mrs. Hattie Mae Vinson of Boulder City, N.M., Mrs. Beulah Carrey of Stratford, Oran Horn of Briscoe, Walter Horn of Stratford. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 30 great grand children and 3 great great grand children.
Her husband, 2 sons and one brother preceded her in death.
Pall bearers were J.C. Moore, Jr., Spud Moore, Dan Hefley, Cecil Martin, Hiram Whitener and Robert Beasley.
The interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.

Winnie M is the daughter of John Thomas Reagan buried in the same cemetery (J T Reagan). Additional info: mother Sarah Slocumb, Winnie Melissa married John William Horn (18 Mar 1871 - 14 Apr 1909) on 3 Mar 1895, they had 5 children: William Earl (1895-1900) who is buried in a small unmarked grave in the corner of the Wheeler cemetery, Hattie May Vinson (1898-1984), Artie Bulah Mullin Carr (1900-1969) she is buried in Stratford Cemetery, TX, Oren Lee (1902-1979) and Walter Clayton (1905-?).
