THE WHEELER TIMES - August 27, 1997

Ida Caddell Farmer, 88, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, in Midland. Services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, at Wheeler First Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Mrs. Farmer was born in Denton County. She attended school in Aubrey and graduated from Denton High School. She went to college at North Texas State Teachers College where she received her first teacher certification. She came to Wheeler County in 1928 to teach at Corn Valley School.

She married Elvis E. "Ebb" Farmer in 1932 at Wheeler. He died in 1967.

Mrs. Farmer also graduated from West Texas College in 1948 and taught in the Wheeler schools until retiring in 1974. She moved to Midland in 1985. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the '54 Study Club.

Pallbearers were David G. Farmer, Paul K. Farmer, Brian R. Farmer, Bill W. Robertson, Kyle B. Farmer and Buddy Toon.

Survivors include a son, Glen Farmer of Midland; two brothers, Vernon L. Caddell of Dallas and Curtis Macon Caddell of Granbury; four grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Cal Farlay's Boys Ranch or a favorite charity.
