PAMPA - Harry Eugene Frye, 91, died Saturday, March 22, 2008.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with John Curry officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Frye was born in 1917 on the Frye Ranch in Wheeler County. He graduated from Sulphur High School in Sulphur, Okla., and attended Draughon's Business School and the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., and Dallas School of Aviation. He received his commercial pilot's license, instructor's rating, instrument rating and multi-engine rating licenses. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II, after three years as a civilian flight instructor and check pilot for the Air Force training command.

After World War II, he was business manager for Gatesville State School for boys until 1951 and moved to Shamrock as a partner in Walker-Frye Insurance Agency. He later owned and was actively engaged in Frye Insurance Agency in Shamrock, retiring in 1979. Harry married Betty Casey. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Tri-State Seniors Golf Association and the American Legion for 60 years. He served on the Red River Authority of Texas board of directors for 12 years, holding the office of vice president.

He was past president of Shamrock Chamber of Commerce, had served as chairman of Shamrock's St. Patrick's Day Association and was a past member of the Shamrock Lions Club and Booster Club. He really enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Casey; a daughter, Dianne Buckingham and husband Bob of Kelton; a stepdaughter, Ann Handren and husband Patrick of Flower Mound; a stepson, Bert Casey and wife Melissa of San Antonio; two brothers, Tom Frye of Wheeler and Dr. Bruce Frye and wife Ruth of Lindsey, Okla.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Fran Morrison of Pampa.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1981, Pampa, TX 79066-1981.
