SHAMROCK - Tobe G. Frye, 81, a prominent Wheeler County rancher, died Monday in Shamrock General Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Frye, who was born on his father's ranch in Wheeler County, was one of the first students to attend the Old Rock School House which is now a historical site in the county.
He had lived in the county all but five years of his life.
Mr. Frye started a chain of lakes on his ranch in 1937 and later leased them to a fishing club. He was a former cooperator of the Wheeler County Soil Conservation District.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Leah Belle Adkins of San Bernadino, Calif.; a son, Clint G. of Chickasha, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Puryear of Boulder City, Nev.; a brother, Harry T. Frye of Wheeler; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The rancher raised one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Hayakawa of Aniak, Alaska, during her childhood.

WHEELER - Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Frye, 74, resident of Wheeler since 1907, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Cain pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery under direction of the Wright-Denson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frye, a native of Dickson, Mo., died Tuesday morning in Parkview Hospital. A member of the First Methodist Church, she was married in 1908 to Tobe Frye at Gageby.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter, a son, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
