WHEELER - George S. Gandy, 95, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Williams, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Michael Erwin, a grandson-in-law, assisting. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Gandy was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Goldthwaite to James and Cora Pride Gandy. He was raised in Mills and Swisher counties and attended Tulia schools. He graduated from Tulia High School and then attended West Texas State Teachers College, where he graduated in 1935.

He married Annie Julian on Oct. 23, 1935, in Plainview. They moved to Kelton, where he taught at Kelton High School until 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, where he served 34 months. He taught in Groom for two years and moved back to Wheeler County in 1947. He operated the vocational school in Wheeler for 14 years and then taught at Wheeler High School until he retired in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Wheeler. He also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Wheeler County.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Gandy of Panhandle and Mike Gandy of Pampa; a daughter, Carol Glazner of Lubbock; two sisters-in-law, Doris Borum of Plainview and Ola Mae Graham of Plano; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to the Retired Teachers Association of Wheeler County, in care of Mrs. Bob Wills, P.O. Box 648, Wheeler, TX 79096.

Ann Gandy, 84, died Tuesday, April 13, 1993.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, 1993 in First Baptist Church. Rev. M.B. Smith, a Baptist minister of Pampa, the Rev. Robert Helsley, pastor, and the Rev. Steve Smith, pastor of Barrett Baptist Church at Pampa, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gandy, born in Vernon, graduated from Tulia High School. She married George S. Gandy in 1935 and lived in Hereford and Groom before moving to Wheeler in 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Donald Gandy of Pampa; a daughter, Carol Glazner of Lubbock; two sisters, Corine Gandy of Hereford and Ola Mae Graham of Plano; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brian Gandy, Michael Gandy, Steven Glazner, Larry Hampton, Steve Hampton, Don Alexander.
