Gene Austin Gibson, 64, died Saturday, September 11, 1993, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ with Bill Morrison, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Gibson, born in Levelland, moved to Wheeler in 1972 from Austin. He married Mary Cabe in 1950. he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a pipeline inspector and trucker. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Russell Gene Gibson of Abilene; two brothers, Billy Joe Gibson of Hutto and James Gibson of Dell Valley; a sister, Neva Burleson of Austin and two granddaughters.

The family requests memorials be to the Ronald McDonald House or St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.

WHEELER - Mary Louise Gibson, 79, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in Abilene.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Dr. Shawn Johnson, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler by Wright Funeral Home.

Mary was born May, 11, 1931, in Lubbock to Clarence Biffle Cabe and Callie Lee Phipps Cabe. She had lived in the community since 1971.

Mary married Gene Gibson on Aug. 26, 1950, in Lovington, N.M. She had a beauty shop and a mercantile store in Wheeler.

Mary was a librarian for 10 years at the Wheeler Public Library. She also was a member of the Church of Christ in Wheeler and Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Gene, in 1993; and a sister-at-heart, Mary Kay Christner.

Survivors include a son, Russell Gibson and wife Sue Ann of Abilene; two granddaughters, Brittany Grace and Chelsea Hall and husband Chris, all of Abilene; and four great-grandchildren, Shaelee Gibson, Kenton Grace, Gentry Grace and Faith Ann Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Sears Methodist Hospice, 3233 S. Willis St., Abilene, TX 79606; or Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene, TX 79606.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
