ALLISON - Bessie E. Yeary Megee Giddens, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Allison with the Rev. Bob Meller, pastor, Andy Taylor and Mike Dyer, both of Sayer, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Mrs. Giddens was born in Lake Victor and moved to Morton after the death of her father. She moved to Wheeler from the Amarillo area in 1933 then to Allison in 1942. In addition to farming, she wrote poems, children's stories and religious songs. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Allison.

Her first marriage was to John B. Megee in 1929 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1964. She married Carl A. Giddens in 1976. He died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bessie Mae Megee, in 1932.

Survivors include a son, G.W. Megee of Placerville, Calif.; three daughters, Lavesta Barber and Arlene Scheller, both of Amarillo, and Fae Davis of Elk City, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Patsy Stinnett of Buena Vista, Colo., and Phyllis Hefley of Briscoe; a brother, Carl W. Yeary of Von Ormy; 18 grandchildren; 30 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79101. Amarillo Globe-News, Sep 19, 1999
