James Robert Goad, 87, died Friday, January 13, 1984.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 16 at Lemons Memorial Chapel, Dean Brookshire, minister of the Ninth and Columbia church of Christ, officiated. Services were also held at 3 p.m. Monday, January 16 at church of Christ in Wheeler, followed by Masonic graveside rites at Wheeler Cemetery.

Mr. Goad was born in Gordon. He married Bonnie Curtis May 28, 1927, in Spearman. He moved to Plainview in 1936 from Canadian. He also lived in Oklahoma City, Fort Worth and Gordon. He was a barber and a member of the church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Jim R. (Lolita) Yoakum of Plainview and Mrs. Fred (Yvonne) Thaxton of Floydada; two brothers; Emmett of Bakersfield, Calif. and Evort [sic] of Pampa; three siters [sic], Berga Goad of Encino, Calif., Ruby Zybach of Briscoe and Mrs. Ardell George of Canadian; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
