Word was received here Wednesday of the death of Mrs. M.J. Goad, mother of Andrew and Evart Goad of Wheeler and Mrs. Ardell George and Mrs. Ruby Zybach of Briscoe. Mrs. Goad passed away at the home of her daughter, Berga, in Los Angeles, Calif., Wednesday, March 19, 1952, at 2:45 a.m.

Martha Jane Coleman was born August 13, 1889 in Trimble County, Kentucky. She was 82 years, 7 months and 6 days old at the time of her death. She came to Erath County, Texas in 1881. On May 30, 1886 she was married to John Thomas Goad and to this union thirteen children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died September 26, 1918, and four children.

Mrs. Goad came to Wheeler County in March 1920 and settled on a farm northwest of Wheeler. In 1938 she moved to Pampa, in 1941 to Panhandle, and in 1946 she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she made her home until her death.

She has been a member of the Church of Christ since early womanhood.

Survivors include five sons, Andrew and Evart of Wheeler, Jim of Plainview, Emmitt of Riverside, Calif., and Oshel of Los Angeles, Calif.; four daughters, Ruby Zybach and Ardell George of Briscoe, Berga Goad of Los Angeles, Calif., and Hattie Miller of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Zack Coleman of Wheeler and Will Mahoney of West Fork, Ark.; and one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Parker of Olustee, Okla.; 28 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Wheeler Church of Christ, but the exact time of the last rites had not been set at press time today. Short rites were to be held at Los Angeles at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) then the body will be shipped to Pampa where it will arrive at 6:45 p.m. Saturday and be met by a Kirk-Mason coach.

Interment will be in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
