Ernest C. "Shorty" Gordon passed away Sunday, August 10, 1997 in Amarillo at the age of 89. Services for Mr. Gordon were held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery. Mr. Gordon was born November 19, 1907 in Throckmorton County, Texas, to Henry and Gertrude Gordon. He came to Wheeler as a child, moving from Throckmorton County. He graduated from high school at Wheeler. He married Goldie Rebecca Williamson in 1948 at Sanford, Texas; she died June 14, 1990. He was a rancher and a member of First United Methodist Church of Mobeetie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
The pallbearers were Dee Kelly, Jeff Kelly, Joe Kelly, Kendal Kelly, Randal Kelly, and Robert Kelly.
Survivors include three sisters, Flora Mae Kelly of Mobeetie, Elda Wilson of Pampa and Lucille Kilbreath of Lubbock; and two brothers, George Gordon of Monmouth, Ore., and Horace Gordon of Toledo, Ohio.
