Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27, 1961 for James Henry Gordon in the Mobeetie Methodist Church at 4:00 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. D.C. Reed officiating.

Mr. Gordon was born at George Creek in Summerville County, Texas, April 10, 1881. On September 25, 1904 he was married to Gertrude Selman at Throckmorton, Tex. They came to Mobeetie community then where they have resided the past 48 years.

His occpation [sic] was farming.

Mr. Gordon was a member of the Methodist Church in Mobeetie. He passed away at his home northwest of Wheeler October 26, 1961, at 9:30 a.m. as the result of a heart attack at the time of death he was 80 years, 6 moths and 16 days of age.

Survivors are his wife, of the home, Mrs. Gertrude Selman Gordon; four daughters, Mrs. Flora Mae Kelly of Mobeetie, Mrs. Fannie Josephine Goodwin of Napa, Calif., Mrs. Elda Marie Wilson of Pampa and Mrs. Ardena Lucelle Kilbreth of Homestead, Florida; five sons, Thomas Archie Gordon of Tucumcarie [sic], N.M., Cloyd Ernest Gordon of Mobeetie, Henry Lee Gordon of Garland, Horace Glen Gordon of Toledo, Ohio, and George Washington Gordon of Monmouth, Ore.; also survived by 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Serving as pall bearers were C. C. Dyson, S.W. Williams, Jim Selby, J.T. Johnson, Lester Leonard, J.W. Scribner. Honorary bearers were A.A. Burch, D.G. Sims, Al Sims, C.V. McCraw, Rocke Leake and Edward Meek. Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral home.

Mrs. Gertrude S. Gordon, 92, died Wednesday in Garland.

Services were held at 2 P.M. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. D.C. Reed, pastor of Buchanan Street United Methodist Church of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gordon was a native of Throckmorton and had been a resident of Mobeetie from 1914-1968. She moved to Garland seven years ago.

Survivors include five sons, Dr. A.T. of Tucumcari, N.M., Ernest of Mobeetie, Dr. Lee of Garland, Dr. Hollis of Toledo, Ohio, and George of Monument, N.M.; four daughters, Mrs. Clyde Kelly of Mobeetie, Mrs. Fannie Griffin of Napa, Calif., Mrs. Eleanor Wilson and Mrs. Lucille Kilbreath, both of Pampa; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
