She was born in Preuben, Germany. Some of the international documents show her official name as Wilhelmine Caroline Tips.
Caroline is married to Carl Joseph Tips according to German marriage records. 1850 Census lists Conrad Tips as her husband (farmer).
In Guadalupe County, Texas, 1850 Census lists the following in the household:

1855-1867 the family lived in Comal County, Texas.
1860 Census shows Caroline Tips, age 55, in the dwelling along with E. Tips (Grocer)(28 yrs. old), O. Tips (Wife)(19 years old) and G. Tips (Clerk)(21 years old).
1880 Census shows her living with her daughter and son-in-law and their children in Indianola, Calhoun, Texas.
Mrs. Tips died at 85 years of age in Austin, Travis County, Texas.
