WHEELER - Funeral services for Eugene Dixon (Dick) Guynes, 81, father of C.R. Guynes, of Phillips, and Jack Guynes, of Borger, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Methodist Church.

The Rev. Ross Dunn, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.

Guynes, who is a former Wheeler County Justice of the Peace, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday in Parkview Hospital here.

A native of Goldthwaite, Judge Guynes had lived in Wheeler since 1900. He worked most of his life as a rural mail carrier and had served as justice of the peace for the past 15 years. He retired Jan. 1.

He was known in the Wheeler County area for his fiddle playing ability and for his ability to make fiddles and violins from imported maple and pinewood.

Other survivors include his wife, Sue; another son, H.B. of Pampa; three daughters, Mrs. Augusta Beauchamp of Amarillo, Mrs. Florene Beaty of Wheeler, and Mrs. Presley Holler of Browerville, Minn.; two brothers, Doc of Shamrock and Bill of Eldon, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Tot Emler of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Charlene Stafford of Shamrock, and Mrs. Gladys Nisley of Pomona, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Wheeler Methodist Church for Margaret Kendall Guynes, 70, a long time resident of this city. Officiating was Rev. Robert Ely, pastor, assisted Minister Robert Fraham.

Mrs. Guynes was born Oct. 27, 1892 in St. Austell District, County of Cornwall, England and died Oct. 29 at 8:10 p.m. in Shamrock. She had been in ill health for the past two years and seriously ill the past weeks.

She came from England to Dallas County in 1901, moved to Wilbarger County and on to Wheeler County in 1912.

Margaret Morris Kendall was married to E.D. Guynes at Rayland, TX, Dec. 31, 1911.

During her active life, Mrs. Guynes was a housewife, mother, member of the Methodist Church and Stitch and Chatter Club.

Serving as pallbearers were Shorty Loter, David Britt, Harold Kenady, Lewis Lancaster, Virgil Jamison, Ocie Ford, Milton Liles and Joe Henderson.

Honorary bearers were Tom Britt, Gordon Stiles, Robert Holt, Marl Jaco, Boyd Burks, Harry Wofford, George Hefley and John Topper.

Survivors include the husband, E.D. Guynes, three daughters, Mrs. Florene Beaty of Wheeler, Mrs. Pressley Holler of Browerville, MN, Mrs. Augusta Beauchamp of Amarillo; three sons, H.B. Guynes of Wheeler, Jack Guynes of Borger and Clyde Guynes of Borger; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Cocking of England; one brother, Frank Kendall of England; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

One son, Robert, preceded her in death.
