Vernie Bailey Hardcastle, 75, died Monday, August 18, 1980.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, Texas. Rev. Jerry Hogan, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Hardcastle, born in Clarksville, had lived in Wheeler since 1924. He was manager of the county office of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for eight years, was employed for Wheeler County Produce 20 years and was a farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and named by Chamber of Commerce as the Outstanding Farmer of the Year in 1971. He married Ora Neely in 1947 in Panhandle.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Harold Hardcastle of Vernon, Donald Hardcastle of Waco, Gary Hardcastle and Danny Hardcastle, both of Wheeler; a daughter, Mrs. Joe Ann Standlee of Grapevine; a stepson, Benny Brown of Sandoval; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Edwina Johnson of Wheeler; a sister, Mrs. Veva Nash of Hugo, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.'
Pallbearers were C.B. Brotherton, Dell Ford, Dale Helton, Thomas Helton, Dorsie Hutchison, W.D. Mitchell, Donald Reeves and John C. Vise.
