85-Year-Old Pioneer Dies

Mrs. James F. Alexander, pioneer resident of the Texas Panhandle, died at 9 o'clock Thursday morning, January 19, in her home. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. Carlton Thomson , officiating.

Pallbearers were: Domer Reed, //, Burl Hill, Harold //, // Hill and Milton Liles.

Kirk Funeral Home was in charge of interment in the Wheeler Cemetery, the body being laid beside that of her husband, James Fletcher Alexander, who died in 1940.

Mrs. Willis was born in Missouri on January 5, 1871. She was married to Mr. Alexander at Rosston, in February, 1889. They came to the Panhandle and Hemphill County in 1904, and to Wheeler County in 1914.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Wheeler.

Surviving are her children: E.A. Alexander, Bothell, Wash.; Esta Ula Seedig, Wheeler; Luke Ray Alexander, Wheeler; Bain K. Alexander, Palisade, Calif.; Wayne W. Alexander, Texarkana.

Also surving [sic[ are: two brothers, Wade Willis, Delight, Ark.; and Emmitt Willis, Amarillo; two sisters, Mrs. Maragaret Livingston and Mrs. Ollie Beaty, both of Woodson, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
