Doug Benefield, 49, a former longtime Wheeler resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 1994, in Amarillo.
Services were Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in First Baptist Church with Bill Morrison, minister of Wheeler Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Benefield was born in Magnolia, Ark. He attended Wheeler schools and had been a Wheeler resident until moving to Amarillo eight years ago. He was a rancher most of his life. He was also a member of the Western Kentucky Cutting Horse Association.
Pallbearers were Rodney Farber, Terry Innis, Terry Jones, Jim Kapleman, Bob Lewis, and Bennie Watson.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Benefield and Danny Benefield, both of Wheeler; a daughter, April Hampton of Wheeler; a sister, Patsy Tribbey of Marlow, Okla.; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Jeri Gamblin of Amarillo.
The family requests memorials be to Hospice of the Panhandle in Pampa.
