M.E. Brittain, 23, son of the late Dewey and Mrs. Dewey Brittain, formerly of the Kelton community was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when his two-place plane crashed at the Robinson Airport on the east edge of the city of Kermit.

According to reports, Brittain apparently was practicing landing and taking off when the crash occurred at 12:30 p.m.

He was taken to a Kermit hospital, where he died at 2:10 p.m. He did not regain consciousness after the crash.

Brittain was an employee of the Superior Oil Company. He had moved to Kermit a short time ago from Oklahoma with his wife, who survives him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Wheeler Church of Christ and interment will be in the local cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
