WHEELER - Brenda Carol Childress, 63, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, in Amarillo.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Ricky Pfeil of Amarillo and the Rev. Andy Dietz of Borger officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Brenda was born Feb. 21, 1947, in Royal Blue, Tenn., to Pete Herrell and Ella Warner. She married Kenneth Childress on Sept. 16, 1965, in Ingalls, Kan.

Brenda had lived in Wheeler since 1969. She was a homemaker.

She operated Dairy Queen for 13 years. She was a fun-loving, straightforward woman. She was a member of Christian Center Church in Wheeler.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Childress; three sons, Draton Childress and wife Donna of Amarillo, Brandon Childress and Casey Childress and wife Nicole, all of Wheeler; a daughter, Tammy Jo Thompson and husband Shawn of Miami; and six grandchildren, Kenneth Draton, Quincy, Shaylie, Hadley, Ryan and Kenna.
