WHEELER - Thomas Jefferson "T.J. Cole, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Wheeler Cemetery with Dr. Bill Wheeler officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Thomas was born Dec. 30, 1919, in Wheeler to Thomas Jefferson Cole Sr. and Zina Ayner Jaco Cole. He attended school in Wheeler.

Thomas farmed and ranched all his life in the Wheeler area, he enjoyed working and the farm life. He also enjoyed cabinet work and custom farming.

He established the Assembly of God in Wheeler in the mid 1940s. His grandkids called him Papa Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; his first wife, Mary Lea Wheeler Cole; his second wife, Lottie Mae Clay Hicks Cole; a grandson, Gerrod Dickey; and a great-grandson, Brandon Cole.

Survivors include two daughters, Zinna Kaye Dickey of Shamrock and Frances Dickey and husband Toney of Mobeetie; four sons, Tommye Cole and wife Sharlotte of McLean, Jimmye Cole and wife Wendy of Pampa, Rustye Cole and wife Belinda of Longmont, Colo., Paul Hicks and wife Judy of Shamrock; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to M K Brown Boy Scout Camp, Attn: Scott Kilian, 401 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124; or a favorite charity.
