*Obituary
Thomas J. Daughtry, 79, died Wednesday, December 25, 1991. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Wheeler Church of Christ with Bill Morrison, minister, officiating. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Daughtry was born in Kirby, Ark. He had lived in Wheeler since 1948. He married Opal Clay in 1930 at Sayre, Okla. He served as the Wheeler county tax assessor/collector from 1947-1951. He then owned and operated Daughtry's Ben Franklin Store in Wheeler from 1952 until 1975.

Mr. Daughtry was elected Wheeler County clerk in 1976 and retired in 1984. He was a member of the church of Christ and Wheeler Kiwanis Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason, the past mayor of Wheeler and a past member of the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce.

Pallbearers were Riley Atwood, Gary Davis, Robert Ford, Kyndal Murray, Walter Simmons and Daryl Snelgrooes. Honorary Pallbearers were Bus Dorman, Lonnie Kenney, Curtis Kidwell, Bill Owen, Thurman Rives and Joe Rogers.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Ken Daughtry of Wheeler; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
