Funeral services for William Abraham Finsterwald were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Wheeler First Baptist Church.

Rev. Charles Uzzle of Mobeetie officiated, assisted by Rev. Sanford Cole of Canadian and Rev. Frank Ross, pastor of the Wheeler First Baptist Church.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.

Mr. Finsterwald died last Friday in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo. He was 63.

Born on March 4, 1899, in Mobeetie, he resided there his entire life. He was married to Mary Cook on Jan. 27, 1925, in Canadian.

He was a member of the Baptist Church, having been converted as a young man.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jack William of Mobeetie; a daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Vise of Briscoe; seven grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Henderson of Grants Pass, Ore., Mrs. Clara Holmes of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Betty Dobbs of Houston; two brothers, Herbert Finsterwald of Wheeler and Milton Finsterwald of Mobeetie; one cousin, Mrs. Emma Lockhart of Amarillo and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Farmer Hefley, P.A. Martin, Barney Burgess, Clarence Dyson, Richard Brown and Clyde Ayers.

Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Standlee, Grady Dodd, Elbert Zybach, Paul Green and Shelby Pettit.

WHEELER - Mary B. Finsterwald, 96, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church in Wheeler with Dr. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Finsterwald was born to Jabez and Dora Lambert Cook on Jan. 18, 1906, in Altus, Okla. She had lived in Wheeler since 1908. She married W.A. Finsterwald on Jan. 25, 1925, in Canadian.

She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church in Wheeler, Wednesday Study Club, Bluebonnet Study Club in Mobeetie and the Bridge and Canasta Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; a son, Jack Finsterwald in 1992; and two grandsons.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Vise of Wheeler; a brother, J.F. Cook of Hurley, N.M.; a sister, Tommie Cummings of Borger; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Ronald McDonald House.
