WHEELER - Doris Hays, 93, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wheeler Cemetery with James Baker officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hays was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Madill, Okla., to Lawrence and Virginia Aderholt. She moved to Briscoe with her family in 1927. She was the oldest of 10 children and was in the first graduating class at Briscoe in 1933.

Mrs. Hays married Jack Hays on Dec. 2, 1933, in Mobeetie. They lived in the Briscoe community until 1971, then they moved to Wheeler. In 2000 they moved to Amarillo.

She enjoyed reading, watching basketball, her family and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald Aderholt; two sisters, Avis Allen and Lavois Anderson; and her husband, Jack Hays, in 2000.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Hays and wife Bonny of Amarillo, Duane Hays and wife Sandra of Idalou, Ronny Hays and wife Jackie of Lubbock and Tommy Hays and wife Tena of Fritch; a daughter, Patricia Crossland and husband Harold of Garden City, Kan.; a brother, Ray Aderholt and wife Evelyn of Fritch; five sisters, Lois Johnston of Amarillo, Estelle Topper of Borger, Reta Grayson of Allison, JoNell Grayson and husband Bobby Joe of Sayre, Okla., and Armenda Jones of Tulia; a sister-in-law, Evie Aderholt of Boyd; several nieces and nephews; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
