Mrs. J. Heath Drowns Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel E. Heath were conducted from the First Baptist Church here Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. M.B. Smith in charge, assisted by Rev. Darris L. Egger.

Mrs. Heath's body was bound [sic] at 3:15 p.m. Sunday in a small lake on the Albert Chapman farm east of the city limits to end a 3-hour search which had begun when her mother, Mrs. J.W. Anglin, became uneasy about her failure to return from a short visit in the home of her nephew, Stewart Anglin. An inquest of drowning was returned.

Inquest was conducted by Justice of the Peace A.C. Wood. It was announced there were no marks of violence on the body.

Mrs. Heath, who lived with her mother and stepfather, left the house about 10 a.m. Sunday, stopped a few minutes to talk with her nephew Stewart Anglin, at his home, and then left for a walk. At noon, Mrs. Walter Anglin, her mother, called her son, Don Anglin, and a search was started.

The body was face-down in shallow water. Mrs. Heath's coat and shoes were on the banks.

Born at Gassville, Ark., March 8, 1897, she leaves, besides her mother and stepfather, one son, Laverne Heath of Madison, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Spencer of Houston; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Huckabee of Norfleet, Ark. Mrs. Faye Havenhill of Amarillo; and two brothers, Lloyd and Don Anglin of Wheeler.

Serving as pall bearers were: Burley Mann, Marvin Hubbard, Thomas Daughtry, Chester Lewis, J.B. Oglesby and Carnes Wise.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery, arrangements being with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home.
