Robert Ward Kelley, 78, a member of one of the first families to settle in Collingsworth County, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, in a Corpus Christi Hospital, after a long illness.

He was a brother of Mrs. Guy Clement.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Kelley, for whom the Kelley community was named, he was born March 18, 189[5], in Memphis, although the family had been living in Collingsworth County a number of years.

He moved to Wheeler in 1916 and to California in 1943. He returned from San Leandro, CA to Corpus Christi in 1966.

Mr. Kelley was married to Julia Evans in 1938 in Pampa. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Julia Kelley and a daughter, Mrs. James Barrett of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Floyd Kelley of Dove Creek, CO and Clayton Kelley of Canyon; and a sister, Mrs. Clement.
