Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Eva Lee, 89, longtime resident of Wheeler, were held at Wheeler Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 1967. The Rev. Wilbur Gaede, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. M.B. Smith Baptist Minister from Pampa. Burial was at Wheeler Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee Passed away July 10, 1967 in Parkview Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Lee was born in Falls County, Texas, October 22, 1877. She married Isaiah Britton Lee August 8, 1897 in Greer County, Okla., and they moved to Wheeler in 1904. She was preceeded in death by Mr. Lee, 1919, sons, Ernest Lee, 1953 and Lonnie Lee in 1953 and a baby daughter Lillie Hazel, 1909.
Had Mrs. Lee lived until July 16, 1967, she would have been a member of the Wheeler Methodist Church for 62 years. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society for which she was awarded a 25 year certificate and was given a life time membership in the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Ethel Moore of Amarillo and Mrs. Artie Hunt of Lubbock, a son, Loyd of Wheeler, two daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Ernest (Hattie) Lee and Mrs. Lonnie (Lillian) Lee, nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
