Mary Melinda (Molly) Burke Garner, 60-year-old former Wheeler County resident, passed away at her home in San Bernardino, Calif., Saturday, Sept. 9.

Mrs. Garner, who was Mrs. Wesley Thomas Martin when she resided in the Mobeetie and Briscoe areas from 1923 until 1936, had been in ill health the past three years and was acutely ill two months prior to her death.

The body arrived in Shamrock at 12:30 o'clock Thursday morning and was taken to the Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in Wheeler, where it lay in state until time for the services at 2 o'clock last Thursday afternoon.

The last rites were conducted from the First Baptist Church in Wheeler, with Rev. M.B. Smith, pastor, in charge, assisted by Rev. James M. Bryant, pastor of the Mobeetie Baptist Church.

Pall bearers were W.F. Aderholt, Alex Woods, S.B. Davis, Marvin Burrus, Edward Errington and J.L. Burrus. Serving as flower bearers were: Nelda Glin Baird, Evelyn Worthington, Vondell Wallis, Onida Burke, Mary Sue Brewer and Frances Totty.

Clay Funeral Home of Shamrock was in charge of interment in the Wheeler Cemetery.

A previous service was held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Kremer Funeral Chapel in San Bernardino.

Mrs. Garner was born January 1, 1888, at Whitewright. She came to Wheeler County in 1923, residing in the Briscoe and Mobeetie vicinities until 1936. Her husband, Wesley Thomas Martin, and a 12-year-old son, Jack Waldon Martin passed away in 1935, and she moved to 29 Palms, California in November of 1936. She was married five years ago in San Bernardino to Wiley Garner.

Surviving are the widower Wiley Garner, San Bernardino; two sons and two daughters, Ernest Thomas Martin, Sacramento, Calif.; Arthur Charles Martin, Borger; Mrs. Vera Worthington, San Bernardino; and Mrs. Martha Helton, Bakersfield, California.

Also surviving are three step-sons, William Bert Garner, Colcord, Okla.; Quince Garner, Witts Springs, Ark.; Carl D. Garner, Russellville, Ark.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Okla Mae Jones, Morrilton, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
