WHEELER - Grant Meek, 66, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the United Methodist Church in Wheeler with Ben Mathers of Canadian and Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Mr. Meek was born April 21, 1941, in Shattuck, Okla., to William Clyde and Elva Hill Meek. He graduated from Briscoe High School in 1959. He married Karen Moore on Feb. 14, 1964, in Kelton. He was a rancher in Briscoe. He was a steward of the land and a great family provider. He was a loving husband and father.

Mr. Meek served on the Briscoe school board for several years. He was on the Briscoe Fire Department, and on the Wheeler County and the Hemphill County co-op boards. He received the Conservationist of the Year award by Hemphill Co. ASCS. He was also awarded the Young Farmer of the Year award.

Mr. Meek was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Meek; two sons, Todd Meek of Wheeler and Eddie Meek and wife Shari of Canadian; two daughters, Shonda Smith and husband Jimmy of Allen and Lisa Reeves of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandsons, Caden, Coleman, Tyler, Logan and Joshua; a brother, Garland Moore and Rachel Moore of Kelton; a nephew; two nieces; and a host of cousins, aunts and friends.

WHEELER — Karen Meek, 72, died Friday, May 27, 2016.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peppers Family Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Karen Elaine Moore Meek was born Dec. 15, 1943, to Raymond Moore and Isabell Hunter Moore, and was raised in the Kelton community. Karen married Grant Meek on Feb. 14, 1964, and they made their home in the Gageby community. She was a hard working farm wife and dedicated mother of four. Karen loved flowers, birds, butterflies, travel, old songs and her God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Isabell Moore; her husband, Grant Meek; and a son, Eddie Meek.

Survivors include a son, Todd Meek and wife Lexia; two daughters, Lisa Reeves and Shonda Smith and husband Jimmy; a daughter-in-law, Shari Bukowski; eight grandchildren, Caden Cleveland, Coleman Cleveland, Tyler Smith, Logan Smith, Katherine Smith, Joshua Meek, Addison Meek and Quinn Meek; a brother, Garland Moore and wife Rachel; along with nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Karen believed in sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the world and supported Compassion International and Antioch Ministries International. To carry on that mission, the family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Compassion International, attention Gift Giving Department, 12290 Voyager Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80921, write in memory of Karen Meek in memo line; or AMI, 505 N. 20th, Waco, TX 76707, write The Haven in memo line and include a note that it is in memory of Karen Meek.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
