Evelyn was born on Oct. 13, 1946 in Centerville, Texas, to Zenobia and Frankie Robinson. She moved to Lubbock in 1949, then later they moved to Slaton in 1960. Evelyn Joyce attended school at Dunbar and Evans. She later received her GED in 1993. Evelyn was a Christian all her life, and she was baptized at Christ Temple in her early years before moving to Slaton in 1960. Later, Evelyn rededicated her life in 1975 at House of Praise. She later became a faithful member at One Way COGIC under the late Supt. Jimmy Brown, then under New Pastor Elder J. T. Cotton. She worked for Dr. Avant for many years. She went to work for Texas Tech and later left Tech and began working at Lakeside Nursing Home as a food service manager, until she retired in 2007.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Zenobia and Frankie Robinson; one brother, Sylvester Robinson; two granddaughters, Jocelyn and Joanne; and grandparents, aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Bobby Robinson (Beverly), Gail Brown, Joe McDaniel and Christina Johnson (Andre), all of Lubbock, and Vince McDaniel (Melody) of Slaton; six sisters, Martha Kay Gilbert, Shirley Mask and Rita Knighten (Charlie), all of Slaton, Chistine Robinson and Coretta Wilborn (Joe), all of Lubbock, and Cynthia Robinson of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Johnny Frank Robinson (Wanda) of Houston and Donald Robinson of Slaton; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Nell Robinson of Lubbock and Margie McDaniel of Slaton; five aunts, Violet Rouse (Aplhoso) and Verse Johnson (Joe), all of Houston, Sylvia Barnett and Viree Palmer, both of Lubbock, and Lernlene Dixon (Leonard) of Denver, Colo.; two uncles, Lincoln Green (Dorothy) and Ben Ed Green (Hazel), all of Houston; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who will honor her in the celebration of her home going.
