WHEELER, July 8 - Funeral services will be held here Friday for L. D. Miller, 70, pioneer Panhandle attorney, who died at his home Wednesday night.
Judge Miller first came to the Panhandle in 1882 and settled at Mobeetie. He was associated with Temple Houston, son of General Sam Houston for several years. He was the fourth district attorney in the Panhandle, serving when every county in the Panhandle was attached to Wheeler for judicial purposes.
Judge Miller was the last of the original Panhandle lawyers. The others being Frank Willis, J.N. Browning, W.H. Woodman, Temple Houston, W.B. Plemons, H.H. Wallace, B.M. Baker, S.P. Huff and W.H. Grigsby.
For the past ten years Judge Miller has been county judge of Wheeler county.
He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Eulan Wiley, of Cameron, Texas.
