Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon for A.C. Mitchell, 68, who passed away at his home here early Saturday morning. He had been in poor health for about five years but not seriously for more than a week. Rev. H.H. Hunt was in charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. P.D. Fullingim.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Monroe, Georgia May 26, 1876. He came to Texas in 1897, settling in Navarro County and came to Wheeler October 12, 1925. He was married to Josie Watson 1898 and two children were born to this union. Mrs. Mitchell passed away in 1901. He was married to Zodie Smith in 1902 and to this union were born eight children; Clyde, Dick, A.C., Jr., and Josephine preceded him in death. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Earl Mitchell of Shamrock, Mrs. Charley Carter and Mrs. Burl Chesher of Wheeler, Mrs. Percy Rowe of Pampa, Mrs. Icye Bradford of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Calvin Hockett of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Viola Bayless of Kilgore, Texas.

All the children, except Mrs. Hockett, were present when death occurred. Mr. Mitchell joined the First Christian Church early in life.

Flower girls were: Josephine Noah, Edna Farmer, Margie Esslinger, Hazel Lee, Dollie Douglas, Betty May, June Johnson, Erlene and Lorene Collinsworth and Betty Hix.

Pall bearers were: Fred Waters, Harry Wofford, Tom Crossland, O. Nations, Charley Miller and Bob Rodgers.

Interment was in the Wheeler cemetery under the direction of Hunt Funeral Home.

Out of town persons attending the services included: Lawrenc4e Head of Dallas; Mrs. Mollie Allen, Mrs. Mattie Collinsworth and children of Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. Charley Miller and Mrs. Clyde Chisum of Pampa; Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Chesher of Miami; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Landress and children of Pampa; Mr. and Mrs. Claud Montgomery of Shamrock; Mrs. Sam Watson and Mrs. Dorothy Kreps of Canadian.
