AUSTIN - James "Jamie" Marvin Moore died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.

Memorial services were Dec. 6 in San Marcos.

He grew up in Wheeler and graduated from Wheeler High School in 1965. He attended Texas Tech and later served in the Peace Corps in Colombia, South America. In 1975, he married Nancy Pomroy. They had a son, Jason, in 1978. Jamie served on the City Council in San Marcos, where he also ran the local Showplace Cinema theater. He went back to Texas Tech and received a B.A. and an M.A. in Spanish. Jamie later moved to Mexico to build movie theaters. His next adventure was to travel to Alaska to work at a hunting lodge as a tour guide, leading dog-sledding excursions. His remaining years were spent in Wheeler and San Marcos, where he and his son shared many adventures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Spud Moore; and a brother, Wendell.

Survivors include a son, Jason of San Marcos; a stepson, Clint Pomroy of Agoura Hills, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Shelly Schedler of Lubbock; two brothers, John of Seattle and Dennis of Wheeler; three sisters, Linda Bruton of Saratoga, Calif., Marlene Miller of Round Rock and Marilyn Herd of Georgetown; 15 nephews and nieces; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114, www.pkdcure.org.
