Morris Rites Held Monday
Funeral services for John Bartley Morris were conducted at the Wheeler Methodist Church here Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. Darris Egger, pastor, in charge, assisted by Rev. A.D. Moore pastor of the Mobeetie Methodist Church.
John Bartley Morris was born in Oklahoma on October 19, 1883, and passed away at the home of his brother, Lee Morris, nine miles southwest of Mobeetie last Saturday morning, October 27, 1951, at the age of 68 years and 8 days. Mr. Morris was found dead in his bed last Saturday morning when other members of the family got up.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined that organization in early manhood.
Mr. Morris formerly farmed southwest of Wheeler. About Christmas last year, he moved to the home of his brother southwest of Mobeetie where he has resided since that time.
Survivors include: Two daughters, Mrs. Lavna Jackson and Mrs. Leota Eichor both of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Lee Morris of Mobeetie, and Jimmie Morris of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Dolly Sherwood of Hollis, Okla., Mrs. Maude Coyle and Mrs. Daisy Harris of Merietta, Okla., six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death.
Pall bearers were: Jack Hayes, Eleck Wood, Will Warren, Jake Allen. L.S. Aderholt and Jeff Turner.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge f arrangements.
