F.C. Peace, World War veteran, died Friday at his home in Mobeetie following a two months' illness; however, his health had been failing rapidly the past year. He moved his family to Mobeetie from Oklahoma in 1929 and had since been engaged in business.
Frank Peace was born in Kaufman county, Texas, Jan. 28, 1884, and died in Mobeetie March 13, 1942, at the age of 58 years, one month and 12 days.
Besides his loving wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edgar Johnson, Bay City; his mother, Mrs. S.J. Peace, 88, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Miss Julie Peace, Camp Hulen; Mrs. Lillie Price and Mrs. Jeannette Johnston, Oklahoma, and a brother, Will Peace, Kennedy. Also a grandson, Billy Joe Johnson, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Mobeetie Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W.B. Gilliam, Dodson, assisted by the pastor, Rev. G.W. McLain.
The American Legion, West Post 138, was in charge of the military rites at the grave.
Pall bearers were Henry Flanagan, Ernest Moore, Charlie Fultz, Joe McCain, Aaron Williams and Jim Risner. Honorary members were O.W. Elliott, S.H. Hooker, Vernon Hooker, Frank Cocke, Buck Scribner and Floyd Adams.
Interment was made in the Wheeler cemetery.
