WHEELER — Lela Verndell Pride, 94, of Wheeler died Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Church of Christ in Wheeler with Elder Stacy McCasland officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peppers Family Funeral Home in Wheeler.

Lela was born Dec. 19, 1917, to Troy Curlee and Freda Schaub Curlee. She attended school in Wheeler. She married Morgan Edward Pride on July 6, 1934, in Wheeler. In 1986, she retired
from Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, where she had worked as a dietician.

Lela loved to read and dance, loved music and was a fantastic colorization artist. She also enjoyed playing the games 42 and bridge. Lela was a member of Church of Christ in Wheeler.

She was preceded in death by a son, Doyle Edward Pride; and a brother, Troy Curlee.

Survivors include two sons, Francis "Sonny" Pride and wife Jeraldine of Arlington and Mickey Pride and wife Joyce of Amarillo; three daughters, Pat Banda of Fort Worth, Peggy Campbell and
husband William of El Reno, Okla., and Pam Pride of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-
grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Almetia Jenkins and husband
Hansford of Kingston, Okla.
