WHEELER - Doyle Ramsey, 76, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wheeler Church of Christ with Dr. Shawn Johnson, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Ramsey was born June 5, 1927, to Robert Lee and Bernice Ramsey in Wheeler. He married Mildred Holcomb Shackelford on Feb. 15, 1962, in Shamrock. Doyle was a Wheeler County Deputy for 161/2 years. He later held the office of sheriff of Wheeler County from 1977 to 1984. He was elected justice of the peace in 1987 and remained in that position until his retired in 1998. Doyle was a member of the Church of Christ in Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 12, 1990; and a sister, Patsy Britting of Amarillo.

Survivors include three stepsons, David Shackelford of Indio, Calif., John Shackelford of Buda and Tommy Shackelford of Krum; and a brother, Leon Ramsey of Brownwood.
