Funeral [sic] services for Walter Levi Reid, 90, who died Wednesday, September 23, 1987 were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 25 in First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Reid was born in Earth County. He was married to Gordie Edith Austin in 1921 at Stephenville. She died in 1984.
He moved to Wheeler County in 1926. He owned and operated a barber shop until retiring in 1980. He was a member of First Methodist Church and Wheeler Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W.L. Jolly of Wheeler; a brother, Otis of Wheeler; a sister, Mrs. Ozie Cox of Stevenville [sic]; two grandsons; eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Adams, Ken Blanchard, Jerry Hefley, James Sabbe, Kent Sims, Bobby Vanpool.
Honorary pallbearers were Leon Fillingim, Tom Helton, Milton Liles, Bill Mason, Percy Farmer, Harold Kenady, Densel Reed, N.D. Ware, Thurman Rives, Loyd Anglin, Eli Sabbe, Harrison Hall, Terrell Gunter.
