The Rev. Gordon Lawrence Reynolds, 75, died Thursday, January 3, 1980 in Vernon.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 1980 in First Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Hogan, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
The Rev. Reynolds was born in Cleaton, Ky., September 4, 1904.
He moved to Wheeler three years ago from Shelbyville, Ky., where he lived 20 years. He attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall and Southern Baptist Seminar [sic] in Louisville, Ky. He was a retired school teacher and Baptist minister, a veteran of World War II and a member of Wheeler Baptist Church. He pastored in churches in Texas and Kentucky and did mission work in Washington. He married Lillian Wood in 1942 in Wheeler County.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Forest Reynolds of Poland, Ind., Brannon Reynolds and S.J. Reynolds, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two sisters, Mrs. Fly [sic] Mercurio of Patchogue, Long Island, N.Y., and Mrs. John Tanner of Parris Crossing, Ind.
Pallbearers were: Tom Christner, Joe Kelly Clarke, Larry Hampton, Bill Stiles, Rodney Weatherly and Paul Williams.
