Former Local Resident Dies In Kansas
Frank Carl Rickert, Jr., 34 years old, former Wheeler resident was found dead beside the Union Pacific Railroad track near Perry, Kan. Tuesday morning. A coroner's jury returned an "open verdict" of death from excessive bleeding but failed to state how the accident occurred.
Sheriff George Killinger of Jefferson County, Mo., said investigation is continuing. The sheriff said the body was discovered about 7 o'clock Tuesday morning. He said it has not been determined when or how the accident occurred. One of Rickert's arms was severed and he had a serious head injury.
Rickert was born at Canadian, later moved to Wheeler then to Kirkland, where his parents now live, and then worked in Childress, where his wife and three children live.
Rickert was a mechanic.
At the time of his death he was working for the Santa Fe Railway at Lawrence, Kans.
Survivors are his wife and six children, Frank, Carlene and Michael, all of Childress, Betty Larue, Frances Ann and Elaine, all living in California, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Rickert, Kirkland, and two sisters, Mrs. Bill Cathey, Dallas, and Mrs. Kenneth Davis, Levelland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at Stewart-Carter Funeral Home in Childress with Rev. L.C. Royal officiating. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery with Kirk-Mason Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.
