*Obituary
Gordon B. Roper, 72, died Saturday October 3.
Services were held October 6 at 2:30 in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ernie McGaughey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Roper was born in Henderson. He moved to Wheeler County with his family in 1921. He married Lurene LaFon in 1929 at Wheeler. He was a construction carpenter in Dallas until he retired and returned to Wheeler in 1972. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Johnie Beth Love of Duncanville, and Mary Nell Johnson of Helena, Mont; a sister, Mrs. Lela Wilson of Pampa; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Leon Fillingim, Bill Hampton, Thomas Helton, Hoy Hunter, Dorise Hutchison and James Verden.
